THAYER CAMERATA STRING ORCHESTRA – Wednesdays, 5:00 to 6:00 pm
Beginner orchestra for children who have studied their instrument for at least one year, or at the discretion of the directors. By audition. Taught by Kathryn Kalmansson and Connie Drexler. $150/semester, siblings half price. Gold Room.
YOUTH ENSEMBLE OF NEW ENGLAND INTERNS – On hold until the Covid-19 restrictions are lifted.
For intermediate students interested in joining the Youth Ensemble of New England. Will be working on pieces to perform with the orchestra. Taught by Kathryn Kalmansson and Connie Drexler. $200/semester, no additional fee if also in the Camerata String Orchestra (recommended). Gold Room.
THE YOUTH ENSEMBLE OF NEW ENGLAND SECTIONALS – Wednesdays, 6:15 to 7:30 pm
For advanced students, by audition. YENE is orchestra-in-residence at Thayer. $250/semester. Gold Room.
DOUBLE REED ENSEMBLE – On hold until the Covid-19 restrictions are lifted.
Double Reed Bands have existed since the middle ages and were very popular during the Baroque Period, an example being the Handel Water Music. They have had a rise in popularity in the late 20th century. Oboists, English Hornists, and Bassoonists of intermediate and advanced levels are welcome.
FLUTE CHOIR - On hold until the Covid-19 restrictions are lifted.
The Thayer Flute Choir, directed by flutist Maria Ramey, performs spiritual, classical, and traditional music arranged for flutes, alto flutes, bass flute, piccolo and contrabass flute. We enjoy holding our rehearsals and core concerts in the historic Thayer Mansion but are thrilled to also share our music through performances at churches, retirement homes, community centers and more.
